Emma (Lara) Solie

Summer articled Student

Lara is a Juris Doctor candidate at the Peter A. Allard School of Law. She completed her undergraduate degree in Speech Communication at the University of Waterloo before making a cross-country move to Vancouver. She has received multiple awards, including the St. Jerome’s Entrance Scholarship, St. Jerome’s Student Engagement Scholarship, and St. Jerome’s Upper Year Scholarship.

While in law school, Lara has served as Director of Communications for the UBC Law Students’ Society, as well as founder and president of the law school’s current outdoors club. She has been involved with Legal Education Outreach as a workshop facilitator, and is a member of the UBC TLABC Oral Advocacy Society. In her first year, she completed the Indigenous Cultural Competency Certificate.

Lara is dynamic and creative, with a diverse range of interests and hobbies. In her spare time, she is an avid explorer and “peak-bagger” who enjoys participating in extreme sports (and then coming home to her cats)."
