Michael James McDonald

Summer Articled Student

Michael’s background in accounting and keen interest in business matters have given him a strong foundation to pursue a career focusing on a number of commercial and corporate law related practice areas.

It is his passion for debate, advocacy, and competitive activity that have led him to Fraser Litigation Group, where he can make litigation and dispute resolution a focal point of his future practice. Michael finds the process of formulating arguments to be immensely captivating and becomes immersed in strategizing how to advance a position while constantly assessing how someone could attempt to counter or rebuke his reasoning when there is a debate, negotiation, or argument to be had. Throughout law school, he has been involved in oral advocacy clubs and taken part in mock trials.

Prior to attending law school, Michael worked as an Investment Accountant with a leading Canadian Asset Management Corporation.

Michael lives an active lifestyle. When he’s not busy working or studying, you can find him playing pickup basketball, riding around the city on his bike, and slicing a few golf balls into the pond. He has been an active member of his community throughout both his undergraduate studies and in law school. He served as Treasurer for a local Victoria BC-based charity that facilitates grief education workshops and loss support programs for youths as well as Chair of Finance for the 2023 Society of Law Students Law Conference at Thompson Rivers University.
