Jane D. Procyshyn

Summer articled Student

Jane is a Juris Doctor candidate at the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Law. She has a background in Computer Science and History from her undergraduate studies at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and a great interest in technology, business, and how law impacts the daily lives of Canadians.

Due to her technology background, previous experience in the medical device industry, and her keen interest in humanities subjects, Jane often has an analytical approach to problem-solving paired with an appreciation for how emotional considerations can impact business and legal decisions. Throughout her studies she has learned the value of interdisciplinary approaches to solutions, and how business, technology and human dynamics are often relevant considerations when searching for solutions.

Jane also has a passion for community involvement and advocacy. Prior to entering law school, she volunteered with Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon for several years to offer stress-relieving activities for children undergoing medical treatment at BC Children’s Hospital. During law school, Jane began working with Pro Bono Students Canada where she devoted significant time and effort into expanding the Family Law Project in Saskatchewan, which provides legal information and consultation services to individuals who are unable to afford representation. During her second year of law school she expanded the project’s community engagement by 250%. She will return to work with the project in her final year of law school, this time as the project’s team lead.

Jane loves the mountains and forests of British Columbia and the outdoors have always drawn her back to Vancouver. When she’s not working or studying, she enjoys bike touring, rock climbing, skiing, hiking or any outdoor activity away from the city. During her time at UBC, she was an active member of the longstanding Varsity Outdoors Club: a community of outdoors enthusiasts who plan various back-country and outdoor sports trips, provide affordable access to outdoors equipment, and offer safety training for newcomers who wish to become more involved in the outdoor sports community.
